Wilson, a Harvard naturalist, argued that "...our natural affinity for life—biophilia—is the very essence of our humanity & binds us to all other living things.", and perhaps for some of us, biophilia binds us to nonliving things as well, like our loved ones who have passed.

Ethically Sourced
Our customers deserve more than a beautiful artisan-made item, but a promise that we will investigate each step in the supply chains we source our materials from, so we leave gentle footprints on the Earth & our hearts. We source our materials from small businesses with like-minded morales & values.
Honeybees are the backbone of our survival & the symbiotic relationship we have with them is something we at Nocturnal Designs are most grateful for. We ensure the beeswax used in our candles is ethically procured so we have a 100% cruelty-free brand. We recognize while some vegans are okay with ethically sourced beeswax, some are not. All our potpourri & diffuser items are 100% vegan & cruelty-free. Please reach out if you're interested in us engineering a vegan candle!
Eco-Friendly

We would not be who we are without our eco-friendly design model, which is at the core of our brand. Materials are sourced for their capacity to be reused or upcycled & are biodegradable or recyclable at every stage so it's not a one-and-done 'throw-away' experience. Instead of using paraffin, we use beeswax, a truly sustainable wax for our candles. Beeswax, a by-product of honeybees, is a renewable diverse-use natural resource. It's highly prized for its capacity to purify the air by capturing positive ions like dust, dander & pollutant particulates in the air. It does this by emitting negative ions when burned.

Multipurpose Design
Our brand concept is built upon creating dark aesthetic pieces that are functional decor meant to be reused for one or more purposes. Each candle & potpourri order includes a crystal or stone, and/or 'add-ins' to inspire you to reuse, or rebirth, each item as decor. Our diffusers are meant to be used as both a portable diffuser & refresher oil for our potpourri line to reduce waste by omitting 'throw-away' vials of oils. Each diffuser can be rebirthed anew several times over. We are constantly working to improve our offerings & expand upon our brand to make it inclusive but true to our branding & mission without sacrificing quality.

Artisan-Made
You'll notice our designs cater towards darker shades & embrace our love of Autumntime, Samhain, paganism, the occult, the macabre, Mother Nature, & relevant symbolism from each. Everything is made in-house in small batches to sell you a unique item that has a lot of thought & care put into it. We strive to make each unboxing experience as unique & magickal as every one-of-a-kind piece we craft. While we try to price items fairly, we recognize our price point may not be affordable for everyone. We are willing to provide up to 20% off orders for low-income households with proof of income as defined by the Census Bureau.

Customizable
We have customizable made-to-order listings under every line we offer. For our candle sculptures, you can customize the mold type, wax color, amount of shimmer, & with or without select fragrances. For our potpourri line, you can customize the color of the potpourri & the fragrance. We also offer portable multipurpose refresher oil diffusers. You can customize the fragrance oil, whether it comes with or without flower petals, crystals & an artisan-made keychain, or a necklace accessory. Please keep in mind while we try our best to recreate designs upon request, they may never be reborn in their exact likeness. So, if you see something you love, scoop it up while you have the chance.

It goes without saying that each purchase you make helps to support a disabled woman-owned business. Sales go into expanding our offerings & providing you with more unique artisan-made items. With your support, we hope to gain financial security & be able to donate 10%-15% of our sales to causes we believe in. Such as the 'Wounded Warrior Project', the 'National Medical Malpractice Advocacy Association', the 'Autism Society of America', 'The Nature Conservancy', & many more.
